We had the pleasure of chatting recently with Jamie Dickey, a bride of ours from October 2011. It was an amazing wedding with so much romance and emotions! We couldn’t help but marvel at just how much Jamie had accomplished in such a short time! She let us record some of our conversation to share with you in this video!
Posts Tagged “Kansas City photographers”The Elmores are good friends and neighbors of Chris Cummins’ sister. Like a lot of families these days, the Elmores have had many portraits done at a lot of places. When we first talked with Sara, the family’s mom, about their family portraits, she expressed her anxiety over how her kids may act and tolerate having their portraits made. It’s not uncommon for moms, when first talking with us, to express to us their fears about how difficult their children may be during a portrait session. They’re convinced their kids won’t behave, they won’t sit still and will be a total test for our patience and skills. Sometimes the kids are a challenge, but much more often than not we find ways to help the kids become excited and willing participant in the photography. A little psychology and genuine fun is all that is needed. Often it is as simple as letting the kids be themselves and not feel overly managed, posed and guided. Kids know instantly if something doesn’t feel genuine and they hate it. Expecially when they are being told to not be genuine. Above all we are patient and kind with children. This is one of our unique factors that we know separate us from the usual photography studio. In the end, Max and Sydney were angels and a dream to work with. (This is usually the case!) It cracks me up how our clients and us develop the spontaneous nicknames for the images we are looking at during the viewing and ordering sessions. Regardless if it is a wedding, family, senior or baby portraits, certain images earn certain names. There’s an image called “marilyn monroe,” “grandma’s,” “gangsta,” etc. It really is funny! In the case of the Elmores, the youngest, Max, gave us his “blue steel” expression. You’ll see it below! We love our work! Great job Elmores!!

Which One Of These Amazing Portrait Locations Will Touch Your Heart?Posted by admin in Portrait PhotographyGlow Imagery has been creating award winning family portraits What makes Glow Imagery so different is we want to capture the individual relationships and freeze those in amazing images that speak to your heart every day you see them hanging in your home. We believe your family’s photography should be more to you than just an image on Facebook that your friends comment on for a few hours and then ignore. We’ve already photographed MANY families this year and our calendar is You Must LOVE Your Portraits - GUARANTEED-Or You Don’t Pay! Our fall times are already booking up fast, so if you’re thinking of having a Deadline: October 7th, 5pm-Then The Phones Close, Sorry! Jon and Diane - like a lot of our clients - live in a another part of the country. Chicago is their home, to be exact. Diane grew up in Olathe and has most of her family in the area hence their plans to marry in mid April. (Goodness that’s coming fast!) These two are wonderful and so freaking in love. Diane has a glowing smile and a wonderful sense of humor, not too many people are willing to laugh at all my jokes (I’m funny, but my wife will testify, I’m not that funny so it takes a very good natured person to laugh at those jokes.) Jon and I have quite a lot in common: We’re big into Seth Godin, web analytics, spreadsheets and for all our geekosity we probably should be wearing pocket protectors. I even suggested a unique wardrobe option for Diane to wear for their engagement session. There’s so much spark between these two. The pair carried on like teenagers in love. When a couple shows such an unchecked affection for one another the photography is easy. Three cheers for working the wintry cold you two! I figured a Chicago couple could take it and I wasn’t wrong!
Jessica Clark of Overland Park had some wonderful things to share about her experience working with Glow Imagery. We covered Jessica and her husband Aaron’s wedding on September 26, 2010. Here’s what she had to say: Tags: Kansas City photographers, raves, Reviews, testimonials, wedding photography Last night’s wedding of Brooke and John at the Crossroads Arts District in downtown Kansas City was sensational. Remember when a couple of friends and some rose petals laying around were all you needed to be entertained? I do. Rachel and Brian sure know how to throw a party! What an awesome couple. Brian is an educator (applause.) Rachel is a budding doctor currently doing her residency in South Carolina, they both went to the University of Missouri (more applause.) As a photographer, sometimes you just know after the first time you meet a couple that they will be a constant source of awesome pictures. I call it the spark. It has more to to with a couple’s interaction and energy around one another than anything. There’s no end to the joy these two share. Boy, do they laugh and smile a lot! I love what I do. I love photographing weddings that break the mold. Especially when breaking the mold means to have a wedding that simply follows what is true to that couple, their friends and families. When I first met Heidi in March, she came to my Kansas City photography studio, sat down on my big sectional and let loose her enthusiasm for her wedding and our pictures. It was awesome and we knew this was an artistic match! Heidi and Keith have been married before and have the most gorgeous kids from their previous marriages. The children were selected as the wedding’s bridesmaids and groomsmen. Their wedding was less about the merging of two lives as the union of families. At times it felt more like a family reunion than a reception. What an awesome day! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Meg and Eric’s ceremony featured some wonderful touches complete with good readings and a wonderful singer. It was simple affair which seems a reliable way to create a comfortable elegance. Comfortable elegance totally describes this couple so much! St. Elizabeth’s is a wonderful place with good light, accommodating staff with reasonable photographer restrictions.
