A client of ours had a few things to say about her experience working with us recently… needless to say such words make us feel all gooey inside.

One thing I have to say about Chris is that he was very respectful and super nice when I first met him. My husband and I got married at a very young age, and, unlike some of the other people I had worked with for my wedding, Chris was one of the few, if not the only person, who didn’t scorn at my age. On top of just being an all around great guy with an awesome personality (and alot of fun to work with), his work is amazing.
Pictures have always been extremely important to me. They forever capture a certain moment in life that only happens once, so it’s needless to say I wanted the perfect photographer I could trust to capture all the wonderful moments for one of the happiest, most important days of my life. I hunted everywhere for a wedding photographer, but I just couldn’t find one that felt right. When I found Chris and looked at his website, I prayed that he had my wedding date available.
I knew someone with photographs that beautiful wasn’t going to be ignored by all the other hopeful brides in need of a fantastic wedding photographer. I had discovered, through the photographs on Glow Imagery’s website, that Chris was the only photographer who brought fresh originalty and a talented eye to capture so many special moments in his clients’ photographs, which would have otherwise been easily lost in the hustle and bustle of their big day.
For instance, during my own wedding, my flower girl came up to me minutes before the ceremony and asked what she was supposed to do when walking down the aisle. I didn’t know it until I saw the film later, but Chris had taken a picture of that sweet moment, and it is by far one of my most treasured pictures from the whole wedding. He captured that special memory on camera that would have otherwise only been a vision in my mind.
As well as taking wonderful pictures, he is by far the best photographer I came across who didn’t want to charge me an arm and a leg. I couldn’t believe that such beautiful photos could actually be apart of my wedding budget! I don’t live in the Kansas City area anymore, but I can guarantee that when my husband and I want a couple’s session of formal photographs, there will be no one else we’ll go to until we are visiting home again and are able to work with Chris once more.
I must tell you that it would be a mistake to not book Chris for your special day, or any other event. You won’t find anyone more talented who takes such amazing photos. He truely has a passion for what he does, and that passion comes more and more to life with each photograph he takes. I highly recommend you not pass up this opportunity to work with Chris. The true definition of a picture is a special moment in life, forever captured to relive over and over again, and that is exactly what Chris will bring you.

The Lenexa Conference Center is a bit of a marvel and features some very nice possibilities for your Kansas City wedding. The home was originally the property of the Lackman family. They were important figures in the early economic life of Johnson County. The property is listed on the Register of Historic Kansas Places.

I love photographing weddings that break the mold. Especially when breaking the mold means to have a wedding that simply follows what is true to that couple, their friends and families.

When I first met Heidi in March, she came to my Kansas City photography studio, sat down on my big sectional and let loose her enthusiasm for her wedding and our pictures. It was awesome and we knew this was an artistic match!

Heidi and Keith have been married before and have the most gorgeous kids from their previous marriages. The children were selected as the wedding’s bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Their wedding was less about the merging of two lives as the union of families. At times it felt more like a family reunion than a reception. What an awesome day!

Kansas City portrait photographer

Do the clothes make the person? Hard to say… but they often make the portrait. When planning for a portrait session stick to these 10 tips when deciding what to wear and you’ll be on your way to awesome portraits.

  1. Be comfortable: Good pictures will require a certain comfort level from you, the subject. If you are scared of losing your balance in high heels or sweating under that polyester shirt then good pictures are going to be harder to come by. Stick to clothes you like, that build your confidence and are functional and comfortable.

  2. Clothes are a statement: Outfit changes are the norm in a portrait shoot so mix it up with some clothing options that will make for more fun, sassy portraits. Bring along other outift options that are more formal to ensure a more broad choice of pictures showcasing the various parts of your personalities.

  3. Keep it simple: Dark, plain fabrics usually work best. Avoid crazy patterns, designs and logos too. Clothing with distinct lines, dots and bright patterns can be distracting in a photo. Same goes for shiny fabrics. Keep your jewelry choices simple and minimal.

  4. Avoid short sleeves and shorts: Long sleeves and pants are the superior choice. Skin tones can vary a bunch on various legs and arms not to mention the lighter complexion will distract the eye when viewing the pictures.

  5. Not too many choices and changes: You should feel welcome to have a few clothing changes but don’t overwhelm yourself and your photographer with choices. It takes a little time for your photographer to get the creative ball rolling. Stopping for an outfit change halts and can disrupt that process.

  6. Ask before wearing whites: Yes, dark solid print clothes are generally better, but rules are made to be broken. Talk with your photographer before the shoot if you are considering a white shirt. It can look awesome in certain kinds of backgrounds and contexts so let your photographer know and they will be better prepared to make excellent photos.

  7. Props (nothing hokey here): Does your lovebird indulge you with an old-fashioned picnic once in a while? How about a tune on the guitar? Bring along a few items that reveal a unique aspect of your relationship. Talk it over before the session with your photographer.

  8. Suitability to locations, or not: If you are hiking about on nature trails to get to your locations, you will want to consider clothing that is practical and appropriate for that surrounding. Or, for a little extra contrast, maybe really dress it up with a suit and tie and wonderful dress to strike a visual contrast with the rustic surroundings. Again, talk with your photographer beforehand about such ideas and get their input. A little planning always helps.

  9. Classic, timeless styles: Great pictures last a long, long time so be sure your clothing choices will age gracefully. What is the fashionable trend today can easily be tomorrow’s parachute pants. So stow away the Ed Hardy shirts.

  10. Hats, scarves and accessories for extra cute children’s portraits: Oversized ball caps, a football jersey from Mom and Dad’s alma mater always work well.

Following these guidelines will help with the mystifying task of selecting what to wear for your portrait session. But remember, photography is a creative collaboration. So some rules are made to be broken.

Meg and Eric’s ceremony featured some wonderful touches complete with good readings and a wonderful singer. It was simple affair which seems a reliable way to create a comfortable elegance. Comfortable elegance totally describes this couple so much! St. Elizabeth’s is a wonderful place with good light, accommodating staff with reasonable photographer restrictions.
